Freeport mill destroyed by fire

The Swany White flour mill in Freeport was brought to the ground by flames that raged on for about two hours Tuesday night. See updates and the full story at our website www.albanyenterprise.com and in The Enterprise Jan. 4.


The Swany White Flour Mills building in Freeport caught fire late Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. Shortly after firefighters arrives the blaze grew and eventually flames erupted from the windows and roof of the building. At approximately 6 p.m. the building caved in as firefighters from Freeport, Melrose, St. Martin, Albany, Avon and Sauk Centre all assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
